Dan has been running businesses since his early 20’s and truly knows no other way. An early retirement from a promising Rugby League career saw Dan searching for a new way to scratch his competitive itch and ambitious desires. Seeing the similarities between sport and business, Dan dove head first into the world of entrepreneurship. His core business would centre itself around customer acquisition where he would recruit and train large scale sales teams around Australia.
The organisation would transact more than $200million in revenue for clients and over the next decade he would go on to win multiple awards including entrepreneur and company of the year within the industry. Observing problems within his own business and broader industry allowed Dan the opportunity to diversify. At first, it was the need for office space without large capital outlays and expensive fit outs. He would later form a partnership and create shared spaces for start-ups. Dan would go on to start, scale and sell two other businesses during this time.
Dan’s biggest failure became his greatest victory when in 2018 he and his family would hit an extreme fatigue from the past 8 years of sprinting. He would realise that success in business doesn’t guarantee you success in the home. Out of necessity Dan would find a way to restructure his life and business to enable him to become a more present partner and father. He would go on to become an advocate for the idea that ‘You Can Have Both’ in family and business. This coincided with the launch of Hippo Business Services, a company that is dedicated to shifting entrepreneurs from burnt out operators to leverages owners.
After a decade in business and now developing the strategies to scale his businesses without it being at the expense of his relationship, Dan would go on to create an online school for entrepreneurs who longed for success beyond the boardroom. This would be the greatest problem he’d set out to tackle as he set his sights on shifting the data that counts entrepreneurs as the most likely to get divorced.
Dan is still actively involved in his businesses operations and continues to consult and speak on the rare occasion while actively building his online schools.
He resides on a hobby farm north of Brisbane with his partner Megan and their three kids Nala, Fox and Acre.
